Q: Do I need prior restaurant experience?
A: No, you don’t necessarily need food service experience. A prospective franchisee must be willing to work hard, have strong business management skills, a positive and fun-loving attitude, be committed to excellent customer service, be a team player, and have the drive to succeed and control their own financial future. We are also looking for franchise owners who will be actively involved in the business. The active involved owner operator is one of the major strengths of the Teriyaki Madness system.
Q: What is the initial franchise fee?
A: The franchise fee is $20,000 per store. The franchise fee helps to cover the cost of providing you with business opening assistance, including approving your site, your initial headquarters-based and on-site training, and other support and franchise development services.
Q: How much is the initial investment?
A: The estimated initial investment required for a Teriyaki Madness franchise ranges from $198,098 to $390,213, which includes the initial franchise fee. In addition to the franchise fee, the total investment figure includes the cost of equipment, computer system, furniture, fixtures, leasehold improvements (construction of unit), an initial inventory, insurance, grand opening advertising, signage, working capital, and other expenses.
Q: Is financing available?
A: No, direct financing is not part of the Teriyaki Madness franchise program at this time. However, Teriyaki Madness will provide you with ample start-up assistance in other areas, including access to our approved suppliers, site selection, and design assistance.
Q: Are there ongoing fees paid to Teriyaki Madness?
A: Yes, franchisees in the Teriyaki Madness system pay a weekly royalty equal to 6% of gross sales. The fee entitles you to continued use of the Teriyaki Madness name and trademarks, access to our operating systems, marketing assistance, new product design, ongoing business consulting, and other benefits that come with being part of the Teriyaki Madness organization.
Q: Are there any advertising fees?
A: Yes, building recognition of the Teriyaki Madness name and reputation is an important part of the Teriyaki Madness business. Our franchise locations contribute 1% toward a marketing fund, which is used to develop marketing strategies to promote the Teriyaki Madness brand and develop local franchise marketing materials.
Q: How much money can I make from a Teriyaki Madness restaurant?
A: The Federal Trade Commission will not let us make any earnings claims to prospective franchisees. We do have an earnings claim in our Franchise Disclosure Document, however, we only furnish a copy of the FDD during the approval process for qualified future franchisees. We also rely on our franchisees to supply you information on this subject and with some effort on your part, you can put together a fairly accurate pro forma.
Q: Will I have an exclusive territory?
A: Yes. Each Teriyaki Madness store will be located in its own "designated area," within which no other Teriyaki Madness store will be developed.
Q: Where do I order my food and beverage products?
A: Teriyaki Madness has national contracts with major distributors/suppliers that will deliver your products to your location. We have negotiated deals to insure our franchisees pay the lowest possible prices for these products.
Q: What assistance will I receive in contractor and equipment purchase selection?
A: We will provide you with all the equipment specifications and an approved list of equipment and contractors in your area.
